About Alamogordo, New Mexico:
Alamogordo is mostly known because it is home to Holloman Air Force Base (HAFB) and White Sands Missile Range. Both of these keep Alamogordo vibrant and thriving. Alamogordo is proximate to Las Cruces and El Paso, Texas, too, so getting in and out of Alamogordo is not difficult. Alamogordo is known for its small town atmosphere and its high desert climate with tons of sunshine year round. Alamogordo sits at the base of the Sacramento Mountains and it is also near the Lincoln National Forest, so if you wish to get out of town, the mountains provide lots of avenues for recreation such as mountain biking, gliding, skiing, camping, hiking and plain old picnics. Relocation to Alamogordo is a common thing… from military families being PCS’d to Alamogordo and Holloman Air Force Base, to retired military returning to the area, to people working at White Sands Missile Range. Alamogordo real estate including the surrounding communities of White Sands, La Luz, Tularosa, Mescalaro, High Rolls, Mountain Park, and Cloudcroft, offer many homes for sale, both new homes and residential resale homes. Our family loves visiting this facility… it’s unique and in an hour or so, a lot can be seen. Some other favorites in Alamogordo include some great restaurants, parks, and ice cream shops. Grab some sandwiches to go and plan to play at White Sands and have a picnic. They sometimes have special events on the nights of a full moon. There are also some awesome space camps for kids, especially during the summer months. Tularosa, White Sands, Holloman Air Force Base, Cloudcroft and Alamogordo are all a part of Otero County. Tularosa, which is about 12 miles from Alamogordo, 30 miles from Ruidoso, and about 80 miles to Las Cruces, has many home choices to consider.
