Skiing in New Mexico is great this year! With many ski areas to choose from in almost every quadrant of the state! From Cross Country skiing to world class downhill mountain skiiing, we have it. The Enchanted Forest cross country ski area near the Valles Caldera is phenomenal. Taos Ski Valley awesome. Even Durango Mountain Resort which is close to Farmington New Mexico is geat. Ruidoso, Red River, Los Alamos, Cloudcroft, Albuquerque’s Sandia Mountain, wherever you want to get outdoors, this year we’ve had good snow. Don’t ski? Get a sled and go tobaggoning.

Elephant Butte Reservoir to be open to the public

Elephant Butte reservoir in New Mexico has been closed since the tragedy of 9/11. In a special event marking the Sierra County Centennial, the dam at Elephant Butte will be open for visitors on January 7, 2012 for people to walk across the historic 25 story tall dam. The dam is nearly a century old and was built by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation to control flooding, supply irrigation water to farmers and resolve problems over the shared Rio Grande. If you decide to visit, you might want to do some fishing in the Butte.

T or C wants Spaceport America Visitor Center

Truth or Consequences (T or C) has a newly formed group working towards getting a visitors center for the Spaceport Authority to be located in the towns vacant fire station in old downtown TorC. The suborbital civilian flying trips are to start in 2013 from the spaceport authority site in Sierra County.
